Xylem Inc., the New York-listed water technology company, has appointed Andrea van der Berg as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective 1 September 2026. The company announced the appointment on 18 August 2026. Van der Berg is promoted from within, having served as Senior Vice President of Finance for Xylem's Water Infrastructure segment.
She succeeds William Grogan, who is stepping down as Chief Financial Officer and is remaining with the company through mid-September to support an orderly handover. Van der Berg reports to President and Chief Executive Officer Matthew Pine.
Van der Berg brings more than two decades of finance and business leadership experience. Before joining Xylem she spent 13 years at Honeywell in a range of finance and operational roles. At Xylem she has led finance for the Water Infrastructure segment, the division that houses much of the group's transport and treatment business, giving her direct exposure to the operations that drive a large share of group revenue.
The internal promotion signals continuity at a company that has spent recent years absorbing a large acquisition and reshaping itself around recurring water services revenue. Elevating a segment finance leader rather than recruiting externally suggests the board wants operational familiarity in the CFO seat as it integrates that portfolio and prioritises where capital is deployed across the group.
For investors, the appointment is less about strategic redirection than about steadying the finance function through a leadership handover. Van der Berg inherits a balance sheet shaped by acquisition-driven growth and a mandate to convert scale into margin, and her segment background positions her to speak with authority about where the operating leverage in the water infrastructure business actually sits.
Water technology has become a defensive growth story, with utilities and industrial customers under pressure to modernise ageing networks, cut leakage and meet tightening regulation. As finance chief, Van der Berg will help set how Xylem funds that demand while protecting the returns the market now expects from the enlarged group.
