Virgin Galactic has appointed Megan Prichard as Chief Growth Officer, a newly created role at the United States spaceflight company. The appointment was announced in March 2026 and took effect the following month.

In the position, Prichard will lead an integrated growth and revenue strategy across Virgin Galactic's business lines, spanning private spaceflight expeditions and scientific research missions. Her remit includes expanding the company's book of business, accelerating the development of new spaceports, building brand partnerships and identifying new commercial markets.

Prichard joins from Uber, where she served as Head of US Mobility Portfolio, responsible for ridehail growth and for launching and scaling new business lines including the ultra premium Uber Elite tier. She has also held general manager roles across Uber's electric vertical takeoff and micromobility ventures, giving her experience in commercialising early stage transport technologies.

The appointment comes as Virgin Galactic works to move from a development phase toward higher flight cadence and commercial scale. Creating a dedicated growth office signals an intention to treat revenue expansion as a distinct executive priority, drawing together spaceflight sales, research partnerships and new market development under a single leader.

For a company operating in a nascent market, the challenge is not only to fly but to build durable demand across several revenue streams at once. Prichard's background in scaling consumer and mobility businesses is a departure from a purely aerospace profile, and it reflects a view that the next stage of the company's development is as much about commercial execution and brand building as it is about engineering.

Her priorities are likely to include deepening the pipeline of private astronaut bookings, expanding research and government payload work, and progressing the company's spaceport ambitions beyond its existing base. Brand partnerships, a growing feature of the commercial space sector, offer another route to revenue and visibility as the company seeks to broaden its customer base.

The move continues a pattern of space companies recruiting senior commercial talent from outside the sector as they shift from proving technology to building sustainable businesses. By establishing the growth role at chief officer level, Virgin Galactic has placed commercial expansion squarely within its executive leadership team.

Virgin Galactic did not announce other changes to its executive team in connection with the appointment. The company said the new role supports its aim of building a repeatable commercial spaceflight operation, and the incoming chief growth officer is expected to work closely with the sales, research and partnerships teams as the business scales its flight programme in the period ahead.
