Prudential Singapore has appointed Dr Andreas Rosenthal as interim Chief Executive Officer with effect from 28 September 2026, filling the seat left by Chan San San, who has moved to Eastspring Investments as Chief Partnership Officer.
The change was announced by Prudential plc on 24 September 2026 and is confirmed on the insurer's own leadership page, which lists Rosenthal as interim Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Singapore with effect from that date.
Rosenthal was Chief Financial Officer of Prudential Singapore from 2018 to 2025 and most recently served as Chief Enterprise Value Delivery Officer at Prudential plc. He has more than 25 years in insurance and senior finance roles across Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines.
Appointing a former chief financial officer of the same entity as interim chief executive is the low-risk option, and the reasons are practical. He already knows the balance sheet, the regulatory relationships with the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the distribution agreements, which means the business loses no continuity during the search for a permanent appointment. The word interim is doing real work in the announcement: this is a bridge, not a succession.
Prudential Singapore is one of the group's most significant operations, serving a mature market with high insurance penetration, a large bancassurance channel and a regulator that has been active in setting conduct and capital expectations. It is also a market where growth now comes mainly from health and protection products and from the wealth needs of an ageing population, rather than from first-time policyholders.
His most recent group role is worth noting. Enterprise value delivery is the function that tracks whether strategic initiatives actually produce the financial results used to justify them, which is an unusually direct preparation for an interim mandate. An interim chief executive is generally asked to hold the plan rather than rewrite it, and an executive whose last job was measuring whether plans deliver is well suited to that.
The appointment follows directly from Chan's move into Eastspring Investments, the group's Asian asset management arm, where she takes up a commercial role covering partnerships and distribution. Prudential plc announced both changes in the same statement, which signals that the group treated the two moves as one piece of planning rather than as a departure followed by a scramble.
The group has not published a timetable for a permanent appointment. The question for the Singapore market is whether the permanent chief executive comes from inside the group again or from the wider market, which is usually a signal about how much change the parent wants.
