Knight Frank has appointed Louis Harding as Partner and Head of Residential for its United Arab Emirates business, giving the property consultancy a senior hire with direct experience of running a large Dubai brokerage.

The appointment was reported on 23 September 2026. Harding is responsible for scaling the firm's residential sales and leasing across the secondary and off-plan markets, broadening the team and expanding its exclusive development offering.

He arrives from Betterhomes, one of Dubai's longest established residential agencies, where he was Chief Executive Officer. During his tenure the firm expanded into development sales, corporate relocation and build-to-lease, oversaw a rebrand and launched a training platform. Richard Waind returned to Betterhomes to take the chief executive role Harding vacated.

Harding brings 24 years in property. He spent nearly 15 years at Foxtons in London, rising to Area Director, and then moved to Strutt and Parker, where he led the London residential team across the prime and super-prime segments.

The hire says something specific about how the international consultancies are competing in Dubai. Knight Frank has long been strong in the advisory and research side of the UAE market, where its market reports and valuation work carry weight with developers and institutional investors. Volume residential brokerage is a different business, built on agent recruitment, listing supply, lead conversion and the operational discipline to keep a large sales floor productive. Hiring the chief executive of a domestic brokerage rather than promoting an advisory specialist is a decision to compete on that ground.

The off-plan dimension is the part most likely to matter commercially. A substantial share of Dubai residential transactions is now in off-plan product sold directly by developers through agency networks, with exclusive launch mandates among the most valuable relationships an agency can hold. Securing those requires scale, a distribution network reaching overseas buyers and a track record a developer will trust with a launch. Harding's remit explicitly includes expanding the exclusive development offering, which is where that competition is fought.

His combination of prime central London and mainstream Dubai experience is also relevant to the buyer base. The UAE residential market has drawn sustained international demand across several price tiers, and the firms that have gained share are generally those able to serve both an end-user buying a family home and an overseas investor buying off-plan units.

No predecessor was named in the announcement, which indicates an expanded or restructured role rather than a straight replacement. The test will be listing share and transaction volume over the next 12 months, the two numbers that distinguish a brokerage build-out from an advisory hire.
