Giga Energy, the Houston-based manufacturer of energy and data center infrastructure, has appointed Angad Sandhu as Chief Technology Officer. The announcement was made on May 21, 2026. Sandhu, who previously held the position of Director of Data Center Infrastructure at Google, brings extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure deployment across two of the technology sector's highest-growth companies.

In the new role, Sandhu will help lead the company's expansion of AI infrastructure and data center capabilities, with a particular focus on scaling factory-built systems designed to accelerate deployment timelines compared to traditional construction methods. Matt Lohstroh, Chief Executive and co-founder of Giga Energy, said in the announcement: "We could not be more excited to have Angad on our team. Not just his experience, but his vision. He sees the future of AI infrastructure and development, he knows what we need to do to build it, and he sees Giga as the best place to make that happen." Sandhu noted that he joined the company because of its approach to AI data center development, which differs from market incumbents by vertically integrating manufacturing and development under a single operational model. "I have experienced every frustration throughout the data center supply chain, and Giga Energy was the only company that started with manufacturing to solve the time-to-energization bottleneck," Sandhu said in the company statement.

Sandhu's career spans infrastructure engineering at two major technology companies. Before his appointment at Giga Energy, he served as Director of Data Center Infrastructure at Google, where he worked on the expansion of AI and cloud infrastructure. Prior to Google, he spent five years at Tesla, where he helped scale Gigafactory engineering and manufacturing operations. Earlier in his career, he led infrastructure engineering teams at M+W Group, managing electrical design teams for major clients including Intel, Microsoft, and the U.S. Navy. According to publicly available professional information, Sandhu holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering as well as an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.

Giga Energy, founded in 2019 by Texas A&M undergraduates Brent Whitehead and Matt Lohstroh, manufactures transformers, switchboards, cooling systems, and modular data centers. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Houston and Long Beach, California. According to the company, it has delivered more than 6.5 gigawatts of transformers, switchboards, power and cooling AI infrastructure. The company has launched a new manufacturing facility in Houston expected to begin production in the first quarter of 2026, with the capacity to produce more than 3,000 medium-voltage transformer units annually. The company has also expanded its site development capabilities, with 175 megawatts of data center sites operational and a development pipeline of over 500 megawatts for 2026. In January 2026, Giga Energy launched a software platform called Giga Power Systems designed to help data center operators participate in wholesale energy markets.

The appointment of Sandhu represents a logical strategic fit given his prior focus on scaling manufacturing operations at Tesla and his recent work optimizing data center infrastructure at Google. Both experiences directly address persistent bottlenecks in the AI infrastructure supply chain that Giga Energy has positioned itself to solve. The company's stated emphasis on speed of deployment and vertical integration of manufacturing aligns closely with Sandhu's documented professional focus on manufacturing scale and infrastructure efficiency. The hire signals Giga Energy's intention to compete aggressively in the rapidly growing AI data center infrastructure market by leveraging engineering leadership experienced at hyperscaler companies.
