Anew Climate has appointed Bhagyesh Dash as Senior Vice President, International Compliance Carbon, a newly defined role that will be run out of Singapore and that places a dedicated senior executive over the company's compliance carbon business outside the United States.
The appointment was announced on 8 October 2026. Dash joins from South Pole, the carbon project developer and climate consultancy, where he was Strategic Partnerships Director for the Asia Pacific and Middle East and North Africa regions and where he helped build the firm's Middle East business. His remit at his previous employer spanned climate project structuring and senior commercial responsibility across the MENA region, which is the combination Anew Climate has now bought into a single leadership seat.
Anew Climate is a United States environmental and carbon markets company. Its business spans the origination, development and marketing of environmental attributes, and the compliance side of that market is the part that moves with regulation rather than with voluntary corporate demand. Placing the role in Singapore rather than at head office is the substantive signal in this appointment: compliance carbon markets in the Asia Pacific region are being written into law on a country by country timetable, and the buyer base sits in the region rather than in North America.
Why the seat exists
The distinction between voluntary and compliance carbon is the one that matters for a board reading this appointment. Voluntary markets depend on corporate climate commitments and have contracted sharply as buyers have grown cautious about credit quality. Compliance markets depend on obligations set by governments, and they expand as jurisdictions bring emitters inside a cap or a levy. An executive hired specifically for international compliance carbon is an executive hired for the regulated half of the market.
Singapore is a deliberate base for that. The city state operates a carbon tax with an offset mechanism that lets taxable facilities surrender eligible international credits against part of their liability, and it has signed implementation agreements with a series of partner countries. That framework makes Singapore a practical centre for sourcing and placing credits that have to satisfy a regulator rather than a sustainability report.
What it says about Anew Climate
The company has been visible in the region before this hire, but through its own corporate development rather than through a named international compliance leader. Creating the title, filling it with a regional specialist and seating it in Singapore reads as a decision to compete for compliance mandates directly rather than to serve them from the United States.
It is also a quietly competitive hire. South Pole is one of the larger independent developers in the sector, and its Asia Pacific and Middle East partnerships function is precisely the relationship layer a buyer of credits needs. Anew Climate has taken the person who held it.
Neither party disclosed the commercial terms of the appointment, and the announcement did not name a start date beyond the immediate. Anew Climate has not said whether further regional hires will follow under the new structure.
