The FERMA Forum, the biennial gathering of European corporate risk and insurance managers, takes place from 4 to 6 October 2026 at Rotterdam Ahoy.
The event is organised by the Federation of European Risk Management Associations, which brings together the national risk management bodies across Europe, and it rotates between European cities. More than 3,000 professionals are expected, making it the largest event of its kind on the continent.
The 2026 theme is Widening the Lens: From Risk Insight to Strategic Foresight, built around the argument that emerging risks are accelerating, interconnecting and escalating together rather than arriving one at a time.
That framing reflects where the corporate risk function has moved. A decade ago the discipline was defined largely by insurance purchasing and claims management. The agenda now runs through cyber exposure, supply chain concentration, climate-driven physical and transition risk, geopolitical disruption and regulatory change, most of which cannot be transferred to an insurer at any price. The practical consequence for a risk manager is that the job has become as much about board-level scenario work as about placing a programme.
Delegates are drawn from enterprise risk functions, corporate insurance buying, broking, insurance carriers and the growing risk technology sector. For insurers and brokers the forum is one of the few occasions in the European calendar where the buyer community is assembled in one place, which is why the commercial side of the event is as significant as the programme.
Rotterdam Ahoy hosts the forum across its exhibition halls and convention centre. One scheduling detail is worth noting for anyone booking travel. FERMA's own site gives the forum as 4 to 6 October, while the venue's hall occupancy runs on 5 and 6 October, which suggests a Sunday opening and reception on the fourth with the main programme on the following two days.
The choice of Rotterdam is apt for the subject. The city is Europe's largest port and one of its most concentrated points of supply chain, energy and logistics risk, which gives the programme a live case study outside the doors.
