Consolidated Grünenfelder Saady Holding Company (CGS), Saudi Arabia's leading cold chain technology manufacturer, appointed Ruban Bilen as chief executive officer, effective May 1, 2026, following the board's acceptance of incumbent Peter Färber's resignation. The appointment, announced on February 8, 2026, signals a transition driven by Färber's decision to retire from full-time employment after eight years and four months leading the industrial refrigeration group through significant expansion and its milestone initial public offering on the Saudi Exchange.
Bilen, who joined CGS as group chief financial officer in 2024, assumes the top role having overseen financial strategy during the company's IPO process. The board's statement to Tadawul highlighted his instrumental role in structuring the offering, which completed in December 2025 with institutional demand of 61.1 times oversubscription, ultimately pricing shares at SAR 10 and raising approximately SAR 300 million for selling shareholders. CGS said Bilen brings "strong leadership for the road ahead." No external search firm involvement was disclosed in the appointment announcement.
Bilen, a Canadian finance professional, holds over 25 years of international experience across multiple sectors. Before joining CGS, he spent more than a decade with KONE Corporation, the Finnish industrial machinery manufacturer, serving as regional chief financial officer for the Middle East and Africa for six years and serving as acting regional chief executive for nine months. His career also includes senior finance leadership positions at AECOM Technology Corporation in Canada and the United States, where he held roles including vice president of operations and senior director of finance. Earlier in his career, Bilen progressed through financial planning and commercial finance roles at Earth Tech Inc. and General Electric. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University in Ontario and carries the professional designation of certified public accountant.
CGS, established in 1976 as a Swiss-Saudi joint venture between engineer Albert Grünenfelder and Saudi entrepreneur Esmat Al Saady, operates as one of the Middle East's dominant refrigeration and cold chain specialists. The company manufactures transport refrigeration solutions, stationary refrigeration systems, temperature-controlled vehicles, and customized engineering applications from facilities in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Bahrain. CGS claims approximately 41 percent market share in Saudi Arabia's automotive refrigeration sector and serves customers across food production, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, logistics, telecommunications, and defense. The company expanded its Riyadh manufacturing capabilities in late 2025 by incorporating Industry 4.0 technologies including robotics and 3D printing capabilities.
The succession arrangement suggests a measured transition typical of capital-intensive industrial manufacturers navigating recent public market entry. By elevating Bilen from CFO to CEO, the board retains continuity in financial discipline and capital allocation at a moment when CGS must balance shareholder expectations as a newly listed entity with operational execution in a regional market increasingly dependent on cold chain infrastructure for food security and pharmaceutical distribution. Färber's departure after leading CGS through a competitive market consolidation phase and its IPO positions Bilen to steer strategic positioning in markets where temperature-controlled supply chains have become critical infrastructure supporting Vision 2030 diversification priorities. The appointment indicates the board viewed Bilen's technical finance background and prior experience as regional executive sufficient preparation for broader strategic leadership, though his transition from CFO to CEO represents his first general management role of this scale.
