Ron Bolger

Ron Bolger is a Chartered Accountant who qualified in 1970 and brings decades of experience in corporate governance, financial structuring, and international business strategy. Currently Principal of Ely Capital, Ron has served on the boards of publicly quoted companies on the Dublin, London and New York Stock Exchanges. He provides corporate governance and board expertise to the management team, and his broad international contact base enhances the business' effectiveness in carrying out its strategies and creating value on behalf of its investors.

Ron holds a BA in Economics from University College Dublin and is a graduate of the LIO programme at INSEAD, Fontainebleau. He was a mentor to the L4G programme, an Enterprise Ireland and Stanford University initiative. Ron is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and an Associate of the Irish Tax Institute.

Career history

• Partner in KPMG from 1979 to 1998, including a term as Managing Partner of KPMG Ireland and membership of the European and International Boards (1991-1995)
• Former Managing Partner of KPMG in Ireland and Head of the Asia Pacific Practice
• Chairman of the Irish State Telecommunications Company (Telecom Eireann)
• Former Vice-Chairman of AerCap and Chairman of the Audit Committee of AerCap NV for its IPO on the New York Stock Exchange
• Chairman of Fine Grain Property
• Currently Chairman or Vice Chairman of a number of companies including the Galway Clinic (private hospital) and ABP Food Group

Ron is a former member of the Irish Government's Asia Strategy Group and the Irish Prime Minister's committee on the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), Dublin. He served two five-year terms on the Governing Authority of University College Dublin and chaired its Finance Committee. Ron served as Honorary Consul-General of Singapore in Ireland 2000–2023 and was awarded the Public Service Star (BBM) in 2012 by the Government of Singapore and the Public Service Star (Bar) in 2023.
