John Carmichael founded GT Independence, the Sturgis, Michigan financial management services company for self-directed care, and served as its chief executive officer.
He continues as a member of the company's board of directors, and his family retains an ownership interest in the business. Chris Karkenny was named chief executive officer in August 2026.
