World Business Forum Sydney returns to ICC Sydney on the fifth and sixth of November this year, bringing the WOBI management conference format back to Australia for two days of main stage sessions.
The forum is run by WOBI, formerly World of Business Ideas, which stages the same format in a dozen cities worldwide. The model is deliberately unlike a trade show: a single auditorium, a sequence of keynote speakers drawn from business, academia and public life, and no exhibition floor. The audience skews to senior management and owners rather than functional specialists, and attendance is usually bought as a leadership development line rather than a marketing one.
That positioning explains its durability in the Australian corporate calendar. Australia has comparatively few large general management events of international scale, and the ones that exist tend to be industry specific. A two day programme at a central Sydney venue is a straightforward way for an executive team to get a common reference point without a long haul trip, which is the practical alternative for most Australian companies seeking the same speakers.
ICC Sydney sits at Darling Harbour, within walking distance of the central business district, and is the city's principal convention venue.
