The ninth China International Import Expo takes place at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai from 5 to 10 November 2026. The expo is organised by China's Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai Municipal Government through the China International Import Expo Bureau, and is the country's flagship state sponsored platform for foreign companies selling into the Chinese market.

CIIE combines a country pavilion section, in which governments present their national exports and investment propositions, with a business exhibition organised by sector, including food and agriculture, consumer goods, medical equipment and healthcare, automobiles, intelligent industry and information technology, and trade in services. The Hongqiao International Economic Forum runs alongside it, bringing ministers, chief executives and economists together for policy sessions on trade and investment.

Gulf and Asian governments and companies have been regular participants. Hong Kong's InvestHK and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council are exhibiting at the 2026 edition, and the expo is routinely used by multinational chief executives for meetings with Chinese officials and customers during a week in which the leadership of many global companies is present in Shanghai.

For boards and senior executives with Chinese market exposure, the expo is the most visible annual venue for signalling commitment to China and for engaging with central and Shanghai government officials. Exporters of food, healthcare products, luxury goods and industrial equipment use it to reach Chinese distributors and buyers, and Gulf energy and sovereign investors have used the accompanying forum for policy dialogue. Dates are confirmed on the official participant pages of exhibiting governments.
