Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), the United Arab Emirates' largest healthcare network, has appointed Saeed Jaber Al Kuwaiti as Group Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Dr Tarek Fathey. Al Kuwaiti brings more than two decades of healthcare and financial management experience within SEHA's operations.
As Group CEO, Al Kuwaiti will provide strategic leadership across SEHA's 14-hospital network and champion Pure Health's vision for enhanced patient outcomes across Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates. SEHA Chairman Salem Al Nuaimi stated in the announcement: "Under Al Kuwaiti's leadership and with his exceptional track record, SEHA will continue to go from strength to strength as we integrate closer with Pure Health. This is a new, exciting and positive chapter in SEHA's journey as we aspire to become more integrated, holistic and outcome focused to help shape a healthier and happier nation." Al Kuwaiti, in response, noted he has been "embedded within SEHA since its inception" and views the healthcare network as "the backbone of the UAE healthcare system."
Al Kuwaiti has held multiple senior positions within SEHA's structure over his career. He served as Chief Financial Officer at Tawam Hospital, Chief Executive Officer at both Mafraq Hospital and Tawam Hospital in Al Ain, and Regional CEO for the Al Ain region overseeing Tawam, Al Ain and Al Wagan hospitals. Over the past decade, he played a significant role in establishing Tawam Hospital as a center of excellence in oncology. He holds a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona. His career also includes roles in healthcare administration and financial management across the Middle East.
SEHA operates 14 hospitals with more than 3,385 beds, manages over 70 ambulatory care and family clinics, and employs more than 14,000 healthcare professionals across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The network was established by Emiri Decree in 2007 and operates as an independent public joint stock company under ADQ, one of the region's largest holding companies. SEHA handles approximately 117,000 inpatient admissions annually, conducts more than 43,000 surgeries and treats over five million outpatients. The appointment took effect as SEHA moved closer to integration with Pure Health, a consolidation announced in January 2022 by ADQ to create the UAE's largest integrated healthcare platform.
The appointment represents an internal promotion rooted in operational continuity rather than external recruitment. Al Kuwaiti's deep institutional knowledge of SEHA's hospital network and previous success managing individual facilities fit squarely with the organization's stated direction of deeper integration within Pure Health and enhanced outcome-focused care delivery. The signal from the board emphasizes stability during a period of significant organizational consolidation under the Pure Health umbrella.
