KBR has appointed Rami Qasem to its board of directors. The Houston based engineering and technology group announced the appointment, which took effect on the same day.

Qasem brings a career built almost entirely in energy and industrial technology. He served as Chief Executive Officer of APEX Industrial Services from 2025 until February of this year, and as Managing Director of Energy Capital Group over the same period. From 2023 to 2025 he was Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of BeyondAI, and during 2023 he also served as Chief Operations Officer of COP28 UAE, the United Nations climate conference held in the Emirates.

Before that he spent six years as Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Solutions business at Baker Hughes, running the segment from 2017. He arrived there through the merger of GE Oil and Gas with Baker Hughes, having spent twenty one years at General Electric from 1996, a tenure that culminated in his serving as President and Chief Executive Officer for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey from 2002.

Stuart Bradie, KBR's board Chair, President and Chief Executive Officer, said he was delighted to welcome the new director, and that Qasem brings nearly three decades of global leadership experience spanning energy, technology, digital solutions and operational excellence.

The appointment reads as a deliberate match to where KBR is pointed. The company has moved steadily away from being understood as a construction contractor and towards government solutions and sustainable technology, and the digital solutions background is the part of this record that speaks to that shift. Running a digital segment inside an oilfield services group is a specific discipline: it means selling software and instrumentation into industrial customers who buy on reliability rather than on features.

The regional dimension is equally pointed. Two decades of GE leadership across the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, followed by an operational role at the Emirates climate conference, is an unusually deep Gulf network for a United States listed engineering board. KBR has significant exposure to the region, and a director who has run a multinational's business there for fifteen years is a practical asset rather than a decorative one.

Qasem holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Texas A and M University.

KBR did not state the resulting size of its board or name a committee assignment for the new director in its announcement. Committee allocations are usually settled at the first board meeting after a director takes their seat. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
