Innovapptive Appoints Former 3M Executive and TireHub CEO Peter Gibbons to Board of Directors

Innovapptive, a Houston-based provider of digital operations and connected workforce solutions, appointed Peter Gibbons to its board of directors on June 23, 2026, marking a significant leadership reinforcement as the software company seeks to establish itself as the architect of a new Industrial Execution category. Gibbons, who retired recently as group president of Enterprise Supply Chain at 3M, brings four decades of operational experience across industrial, automotive distribution, consumer, and retail sectors to the privately held company, which has raised more than $68 million and secured backing from Vista Equity Partners, Tiger Global Management, and Amazon Web Services.

The appointment reflects a strategic bet by Innovapptive on the industrial software market opportunity. The company's leadership, including founder and CEO Sundeep Ravande, has framed Gibbons' hire as essential to bridging what the company calls the critical "Insights to Action" gap in manufacturing operations. That gap represents a persistent friction point: enterprises have invested heavily in analytics platforms and enterprise resource planning systems that surface operational insights, yet translating those insights into immediate action on the plant floor remains sluggish and fragmented. Gibbons' role on the board involves advising on how to shape what Innovapptive terms its Industrial Execution layer, a software framework designed to connect frontline workers with high-level operational intelligence and enterprise systems. No search firm involvement was disclosed in the announcement. "Peter's track record of driving operational excellence at some of the world's largest and most complex industrial and consumer brands is unparalleled," Ravande said in a statement, citing Gibbons' ability to understand "the intersection of people, processes, and technology."

Gibbons' career trajectory positions him as a rare executive who has navigated both startup acceleration and multinational complexity. He led TireHub, a joint venture between Bridgestone and Goodyear established in 2018, from inception to profitability in three years, building a culture he emphasized prioritized responsiveness and collaborative decision-making. Before TireHub, he spent five years at Mattel as chief supply chain officer, overseeing 40,000 global employees and restructuring the toy manufacturer's manufacturing footprint to address labor cost pressures through automation and procurement optimization. His tenure at Starbucks as executive vice president of Global Supply Chain Operations, beginning in 2007, saw him elevate the coffee company's supply chain to the fifth-ranked position in Gartner's retail supply chain rankings. Earlier, he spent two decades at ICI, the British chemical giant, accumulating experience in Europe, Latin America, and North America. At 3M, where he joined in November 2021, he stewarded operations and supply chain for a $20 billion-plus business spanning more than 100 manufacturing plants and 43,000 employees across 30 countries. He holds a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Edinburgh and an MBA from the University of Strathclyde. He was honored as Supply Chain Person of the Year by the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business and serves on the board of Solstice Advanced Materials.

Innovapptive, founded in 2012 by Sundeep Ravande and Hari Kamineni, operates in a competitive market focused on digitizing industrial frontline operations. The company has built an AI-powered platform designed to link maintenance teams, operators, warehouse staff, and back-office functions on a unified software interface. Recent strategic partnerships with Amazon Web Services, Seeq (an industrial AI firm), and Dozuki (a digital skills platform) signal the company's ambition to become a central nervous system for manufacturing execution. The firm positions itself at the intersection of enterprise asset management, supply chain operations, and emerging industrial AI, targeting asset-intensive sectors including oil and gas, chemicals, manufacturing, and utilities. Innovapptive has achieved recognition from analyst firm Frost and Sullivan as a leader in the augmented connected worker category and claims partnerships with some of the world's largest industrial enterprises, though it has disclosed neither specific customer names nor detailed financial metrics.

The appointment implies that Innovapptive's investors and leadership believe the market opportunity for end-to-end industrial execution software is substantial and that category leadership requires advisory input from executives who have managed large-scale operations in the real world. Gibbons' addition to the board also suggests the company may be positioning itself for a future expansion phase or potential exit. Vista Equity Partners, which participated in Innovapptive's Series B funding round, has a track record of backing enterprise software businesses toward acquisition or public markets. The industrial software and operations technology space has attracted significant capital and strategic interest in recent years as manufacturers face labor shortages, aging workforces, and pressure to improve asset utilization. By recruiting Gibbons, a figure with credibility across the manufacturing C-suite, Innovapptive is assembling authority to influence how enterprises think about the software architecture needed to close the insights-to-action gap. Whether this positioning translates into market leadership will depend on execution, product-market fit, and the company's ability to compete against larger, established enterprise software vendors.
