The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada holds its annual convention in Toronto from Sunday the seventh of March to Wednesday the tenth. The year is 2027. The convention runs at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the venue the organiser abbreviates to MTCC, with the Fairmont Royal York Hotel used as a second site.

What the event is

PDAC is the world's largest mineral exploration and mining convention and the annual fixture where junior and major mining boards, institutional investors and government meet. The organiser states that the convention draws more than 32,000 attendees from over 140 countries, and that the previous edition drew 32,155 participants.

The programme splits between investor facing content, including a capital markets programme, corporate presentations for investors and an investment leaders forum, and technical, sustainability, Indigenous and exploration insights streams, plus keynotes, master classes and short courses. The exhibition side spans the trade show and trade show north, the investors exchange, the core shack and the prospectors tent, with a formal one to one meeting programme for deal making.

Why it matters to a board

For a junior explorer the convention is often the single most concentrated financing opportunity of the year, because the investors who fund early stage exploration attend in numbers that no other event matches. For a major, it is where the next generation of projects and the counterparties behind them become visible. Either way the relevant measure is not attendance but the density of capital decision makers, and on that measure this is the largest annual concentration in the sector.

The organiser notes that the full programme for the coming edition will be posted once confirmed, and publishes no edition number.
