TensorX, the Dublin-based artificial intelligence infrastructure company, has appointed Tim Grant as chief executive officer, elevating him from executive chairman after the firm reached $5 million in revenue. The appointment, effective immediately, comes as demand for private AI infrastructure intensifies across Europe and the company serves more than 5,000 paying customers. Grant joined TensorX in May as executive chairman and now transitions to the top operational role as the company enters an accelerated growth phase.

Founder Shane Morton said in a statement that Grant's experience building and scaling infrastructure in regulated markets would prove invaluable as TensorX expands its business and infrastructure footprint. Grant said the company plans to enter other jurisdictions to deliver sovereign AI according to client requirements in multiple locations around the world. The company has raised $10 million in seed funding led by Darius Cubed Ventures. No search firm was involved in the appointment; Grant was recruited directly during his earlier engagement as executive chairman.

Grant brings two decades of institutional experience spanning traditional finance and digital assets. He spent nine years at UBS as managing director at both UBS Investment Bank and UBS O'Connor, a $6.5 billion multi-strategy hedge fund. In 2015, he became CEO of R3 Lab and Research Centre, the research arm of the blockchain firm R3, where he worked for nearly two years. He subsequently founded DrumG Technologies, a distributed ledger solutions provider for financial services. Grant then became CEO of SIX Digital Exchange, the Swiss-regulated digital asset exchange of SIX Group, in 2020 before joining Galaxy Digital as head of Europe in 2021. Since October 2023, he has served as CEO of Deus X Capital, a family office-backed investment and operating company. Grant holds a master's degree in materials science and metallurgy from the University of Cambridge and a master's in financial engineering from Birkbeck College at the University of London.

TensorX operates a neocloud platform delivering inference on open-source AI models using dedicated NVIDIA GPUs with zero data retention, ensuring customer data is not stored, reused or processed outside Europe. The company currently operates 96 NVIDIA B300 GPUs in production in Ireland, with an additional 96 available in Finland, and is finalizing an order for significant fleet expansion. Founded in 2025 by Shane Morton, TensorX has grown rapidly since launching commercially. Between February and September 2026, monthly token volume on its shared inference platform grew from 5.63 billion to 1.1 trillion tokens, representing a 171-fold increase. Active customer domains increased by more than 1,000 over the same period, while API requests rose from 264,917 to 34.5 million monthly. The company operates with approximately 20 employees and plans significant team expansion in coming months.

The appointment reflects the maturation of TensorX's business model as it shifts from infrastructure buildout to scaling operations and customer acquisition. Grant's appointment appears strategically timed, coming as the company moves from proving market demand to capitalizing on accelerating European customer adoption of sovereign AI. His background navigating regulated financial markets and managing infrastructure at scale may directly address challenges Grant himself has previously identified as critical bottlenecks in the European AI sector: access to GPUs, financing for hardware, and securing sufficient power. The appointment signals that TensorX intends to pursue aggressive geographic expansion and significant capital-intensive infrastructure deployment, territory where grant-backed experience building scaled operations under regulatory constraints would prove essential.
