General Syed Aamer Raza

General Syed Aamer Raza was promoted to four-star general and appointed as the first Commander of Pakistan's newly created National Strategic Command, the military body responsible for overseeing the country's strategic nuclear capabilities. He had been serving as Chief of the General Staff at GHQ before his promotion, where he oversaw operational planning, intelligence coordination and strategic military affairs.

Raza was commissioned into the 6th Lancers in 1988 and previously served as the Lahore Corps Commander and chief of Heavy Industries Taxila. His tenure at Heavy Industries Taxila, beginning in April 2020, placed him at the centre of Pakistan's indigenous defence production, overseeing one of the country's largest military manufacturing organizations.

He holds a degree in International Relations from the University of Nottingham and completed advanced studies in warfare, strategy and national security at the National Defence University. He has played a major role in shaping future generations of Pakistan Army officers, serving as Instructor at the School of Armour and Mechanized Warfare, Director of the Faculty of Research and Doctrinal Studies, and Chief Instructor at Command and Staff College. Raza has been awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-i-Basalat in recognition of his distinguished service.
