Mona Almoayyed

Mona Almoayyed serves as Chairperson of Ebdaa Bank, Bahrain's first microfinance institution established in 2009 to provide sustainable credit to low-income individuals. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Westminster in London in 1986 and has spent her career building transformative impact across finance and social sectors. She was the first woman elected to the board of a publicly traded company and to the board of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Almoayyed has led Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons since 2000, overseeing the company's wide-ranging business operations across automobile, electronics, and luxury goods. The group represents over 300 global brands in Bahrain, including Nissan, Renault, Ford, Sony and Nikon. From 1974 to 2000, she served as Executive Director of the Automobile Division at Yusef Khalil Almoayyed & Sons, where the business markets over a hundred brands of luxury goods, appliances, heavy equipment, medical technology, and concrete.

She served as Chairperson and founding member of the Bahrain Businesswomen's Society for three terms (2006-2012) and as Chairperson of the Migrant Workers Protection Society for three terms (2005-2011). She currently serves on the board of the Arab International Women's Forum, which aims to support and enhance the role of women in the social and economic development of their countries across the Middle East. Under her leadership, Ebdaa has extended more than 24,000 financing facilities with a total value exceeding BD28 million, including more than 10,000 facilities provided to Bahraini women.
