Michael Sheehan

Michael Sheehan has served as chief financial officer to The Irish Times Group since 2020. Known professionally as "Mikie," he joined Landmark Media group in 2013 after five years at Deloitte. He qualified as a chartered accountant following completion of a BSc in accounting from University College Cork.

He has held a number of senior roles, including that of interim managing director of the Irish Examiner and The Echo. Most recently, he served as interim chief executive of The Irish Times Group from September 2025 until January 2026, when he reverted to his previous position of chief financial officer. During this interim period, he commented publicly on major group initiatives, including the acquisition of death notices website RIP.ie.

In his roles overseeing finance, production and operations, Michael has led strategy and delivered significant projects, including facilitating the group's transition to a digitally focused news publisher. He was appointed to the board of The Irish Times Group in 2025.
