Dr. Vinay Patel

Dr. Vinay Patel is the founder and a pulmonary and critical care physician at Meliora Healthcare, bringing over seven years of experience in providing patient-centered and evidence-based care for complex pulmonary and critical care conditions. He has led and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality and compassionate care for patients in various settings, such as intensive care units, pulmonary clinics, and sleep labs.

Dr. Patel completed medical school at Ross University School of Medicine, followed by residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at MedStar Health / Georgetown–Washington Hospital Center. He has built and led high-acuity pulmonary, critical care, and interventional programs at major health systems, including Naples Community Hospital. Dr. Patel has performed thousands of advanced procedures, including bronchoscopy, EBUS, navigational and robotic bronchoscopy, airway stenting, pleural interventions (thoracentesis, chest tubes, tunneled pleural catheters), vascular access, intubations, and ICU-level resuscitation.

Dr. Patel is five-times board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Neurocritical Care, and Interventional Pulmonology, and currently serves as Medical Director of Pulmonary & Interventional Pulmonary at Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He has a strong background in pulmonary and critical care medicine, with advanced skills and certifications in procedures such as ECMO, bronchoscopy, ultrasound, and lung biopsy. He serves as the medical director of the Neurocritical Care Unit at NCH Healthcare System.
