Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo

Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo became Group Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Group in November 2020, assuming leadership of one of the Middle East's most geographically diverse telecom and digital infrastructure players. He served as a Board member of Ooredoo Group from 2011 to 2024, positioning him well for the executive role. Fakhroo holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from ESLSCA University.

His leadership builds on extensive experience in sovereign wealth, finance and global M&A. Before his current role, he served as Deputy Undersecretary for Budget, Treasury and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Finance, and was Co-head of Mergers and Acquisitions at Qatar Investment Authority. He was previously founder and CEO of Idealys and held the position of Associate Director in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department of Qatar Holding LLC.

Under his stewardship, Fakhroo has spearheaded some of the biggest deals in the history of the company, including the successful merger of Indosat Ooredoo with CK Hutchison, creating Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH), and the signing of definitive agreements with Zain Group and TASC Towers Holding to create the largest tower company in the MENA region. Ooredoo operates across Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia, Palestine, the Maldives and Indonesia, serving 147.4 million customers including its joint venture Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison. Ooredoo is building the Gulf's largest subsea cable system linking Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Iraq through the Fibre in the Gulf project.
