Alan Murphy

Alan Murphy is Partner and Head of Law at EY Law Ireland, where he leads the global consultancy's legal practice in the Irish market. He joined EY from Eversheds Sutherland Ireland, where he served as managing partner, and was headhunted to lead the 'disruptive initiative' which had 12 lawyers when launched and plans to grow to 50 by 2025.

Murphy studied English and history at Queen's University, Belfast, and successfully completed the Leadership in Professionals Firms course at Harvard Business School. He is ranked as an eminent practitioner in Chambers Europe and has been a recommended individual since 2006.

Prior to joining EY, Alan served as Managing Partner of Eversheds Sutherland in Ireland from 2009-2020, Chairman of Eversheds Sutherland in Europe from 2013-2017, a Member of the Global Board from 2013-2019, and a Member of the European Board from 2009-2020. He has also served on the board of charities including Barretstown, where he chaired the Risk and Governance Committee from 2012-2019.
