Saudi Intermobility Expo will be held at the Riyadh Front Exhibition and Conference Center in Riyadh from the thirtieth of November to the second of December, organised by Informa.
The exhibition covers the vehicles, charging infrastructure, fleet technology and urban transport systems grouped under the heading of intermobility, and it has grown out of the Kingdom's push to localise automotive manufacturing and to build out electric vehicle infrastructure ahead of demand rather than behind it.
What is driving the sector
Saudi Arabia's automotive ambitions rest on three pillars that have all moved in the past two years: the Public Investment Fund's stake in Lucid and the assembly plant at King Abdullah Economic City, the Ceer joint venture intended to produce a Saudi branded electric vehicle, and the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company's mandate to install charging points across the country. Each of those creates a supplier opportunity, and each needs a domestic trade event where tier one and tier two suppliers can meet the programmes.
The harder commercial question the exhibition sits on top of is adoption. Electric vehicle penetration in the Kingdom remains low by the standards of Europe or China, fuel remains inexpensive by international comparison, and the charging network is still thin outside the main cities. The companies exhibiting are therefore selling into a market being built by policy ahead of consumer pull, which shapes who turns up: fleet operators, government buyers and infrastructure contractors rather than retail dealerships.
Riyadh Front has become the default venue for Saudi trade exhibitions of this size, with good access from the airport and the capacity to host the vehicle displays an automotive show needs. The three day format, running from a Monday into midweek, is aimed squarely at trade visitors rather than the public, and the conference programme alongside the exhibition is where the regulatory detail on charging standards and homologation tends to be aired.
