Southern Illinois University Edwardsville

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is a public university in Edwardsville, Illinois, located within the Metro East of Greater St. Louis, established in 1957 as an extension of Southern Illinois University Carbondale. SIUE has eight constituent undergraduate and graduate colleges, including those in arts and sciences, business, dentistry, education, engineering, graduate study, nursing, and pharmacy. The university is a student-centered educational community dedicated to communicating, expanding and integrating knowledge, with comprehensive and unique arrays of undergraduate and graduate programs that develop professionals, scholars and leaders.

The university has a total undergraduate enrollment of 8,945 students (fall 2024), with approximately 1,954 full-time employees as of May 2024. SIUE is located on 2,660 acres of trees and lakes, making it one of the largest college campuses in the US by land area, and its athletics began the transition from NCAA Division II to Division I in 2008. The university also hosts the East St. Louis Center in addition to its main campus.

In FY 24, SIUE was awarded $33 million for research. The Graduate School's Office of Research and Projects ranks highest among Illinois Board of Higher Education peers in total research and development expenditures according to the National Science Foundation's Higher Education Research and Development Survey.
