Snap Inc has named Ronan Harris chief commercial officer, the company announced on 8 September 2026. He will lead the global advertising sales and go to market organisation, with a mandate focused on driving advertising revenue growth and strengthening advertiser and agency partnerships.

Harris is an internal promotion with a measurable record behind it. He has led the business across Europe, the Middle East and Africa for nearly four years. Within that wider region it is Europe specifically that carries the record the company cited: under his leadership Europe delivered 10 consecutive quarters of double digit year on year revenue growth through the second quarter of 2026, and European revenue grew by close to 40 per cent in the first half of 2026.

That is the number the appointment rests on. In a period when social advertising growth has been uneven across platforms, a European business compounding double digit growth for ten straight quarters is a genuine outlier, and elevating the executive responsible for it to run global sales is a straightforward read of where the company believes its commercial playbook is working.

Before joining, Harris spent more than seventeen years at Google, helping grow its advertising business across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and most recently serving as vice president and managing director for the United Kingdom and Ireland. That background matters for the agency relationships the new role is meant to deepen, since the buying side he will be selling into is largely the one he spent his Google career serving.

Evan Spiegel, co founder and chief executive officer, said: "Ronan brings deep advertising expertise, strong relationships with our partners, and a sustained record of growth. I look forward to working with him in this new role as we help more advertisers succeed on Snapchat and grow our advertising business."

The change follows an orderly departure at the top of the commercial function. Ajit Mohan has decided to leave after nearly four years with the company, where he served as chief business officer and, before that, as president for Asia Pacific. The company thanked him for his leadership and contributions.

The structural detail worth noting is the change of title. The outgoing role was chief business officer; the incoming one is chief commercial officer, with the description narrowed explicitly to global advertising sales and go to market. That is a tighter brief than a business officer remit usually carries, and it points to a commercial organisation being reorganised around advertising revenue rather than around a broader portfolio of partnerships and regional general management.

The company operates Snapchat, alongside Specs Inc, Bitmoji, Saturn and other digital services, and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
