Talent advisory firm DHR Global announced on July 8 that Mark Mangelsdorf has joined as a partner in its Advanced Technology Practice Group, based in St. Louis. Mangelsdorf will focus on senior executive searches for founder-led and investor-backed companies, specializing in CEO, CFO, and go-to-market leadership placements across advanced technology sectors including fintech, mobility, climate technology, and digital businesses. His appointment signals DHR Global's expansion into the Midwest technology ecosystem during a period of accelerating startup investment in the region.

The move represents Mangelsdorf's transition from Kindred Partners, where he spent 17 years advising founders, investors, and boards on executive recruitment within high-growth technology companies. Prior to his partnership at Kindred, he co-founded a regenerative agriculture company focused on soil health, providing him with operational experience alongside his recruiting expertise. Colleagues have noted his ability to solve complex talent challenges through deep industry relationships and organizational process management. Mangelsdorf, a UCLA alumnus, will leverage DHR Global's global platform and partner network to serve clients in St. Louis, the Midwest, and beyond.

Mangelsdorf has built his career advising more than 50 venture-backed companies through periods of revenue growth, market expansion, and organizational scaling. His experience spans product, engineering, data and artificial intelligence, and commercial leadership roles. Beyond his recruiting background, his founding experience in regenerative agriculture provides firsthand perspective on the commercial and operational decisions founders navigate while building and scaling businesses. In his quoted remarks, he emphasized that strong leadership teams transform investor-backed companies' momentum into sustained growth and that DHR's reach and partner network enable him to support founders and leadership teams in making executive hires that drive revenue and market expansion.

DHR Global operates as a leading privately-held provider of executive search and leadership consulting services across more than 60 markets spanning 22 countries, with more than 35 years of experience. The firm boasts over 160 global partners and maintains expertise across more than 20 industries and functional areas, including advanced technology, financial services, private equity, and consumer retail. DHR has been recognized by Forbes for its executive recruiting practices and maintains partnerships with founders, investors, and boards across multiple sectors. The firm operates on a partner-driven model where senior consultants maintain hands-on involvement in client searches.

Mangelsdorf's appointment reflects broader momentum in the St. Louis startup ecosystem, where venture capital investment totaled over $275 million in 2024, concentrated in biosciences, agtech, information technology, and financial services. The region has established infrastructure through accelerators including Arch Grants, Capital Innovators, and SixThirty, alongside a dozen local angel and venture capital investors. However, observers characterize St. Louis as a maturing but still emerging ecosystem, with limited capital density compared to coastal technology hubs. Mangelsdorf's presence in St. Louis as a DHR partner may indicate the firm's intent to capture executive search demand from the growing venture-backed company base in the Midwest, particularly as founders and investors increasingly emphasize leadership quality in capital-constrained fundraising environments. His 17-year tenure at Kindred, combined with DHR's national reach, positions him to serve both Midwest-based founders and out-of-region investors backing companies in the region.
