F5 Networks has appointed Mohammed Al Tamimi as Senior Director, Field Sales Management for the Gulf region, tapping a seasoned enterprise technology executive with nearly 25 years of experience in cybersecurity and sales leadership across the Middle East, Turkey and Africa. The appointment, announced October 13, comes as the global application delivery and security company doubles down on regional expansion efforts and capitalizes on growing demand for AI security capabilities in one of the world's most digitally active regions.

Mohammed AbuKhater, Vice President and Managing Director of F5 Middle East, Turkey, and Africa, characterized the timing as pivotal for the business. AbuKhater noted in a statement that hybrid multicloud complexity is intensifying, AI inference is reshaping application architectures, and the threat landscape continues to expand rapidly. No search firm involvement was disclosed in connection with the appointment. Al Tamimi's hire signals F5's commitment to strengthening its local field sales apparatus as enterprise customers across the Gulf grapple with security imperatives that span traditional infrastructure, cloud deployments, and emerging AI workloads.

Al Tamimi brings a track record of building high-performing teams and scaling regional operations. Most recently, he served as Regional Sales Leader for Akamai's Enterprise Security Group across the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa region, where he established and expanded the operation from inception. Prior to that, he spent six years at Rubrik as Regional Director for the same geographic footprint, joining as the first employee in the region and playing a central role in scaling business, team, and channel presence. Earlier positions included roles at Palo Alto Networks, where he served as Gulf regional sales manager, and stints at Commvault, Dell, HP, and Microsoft in regional sales and channel management capacities. His career spans the evolution of enterprise security from network perimeter defense to cloud-native and now AI-centric threat models.

F5 operates as a global leader in application delivery and security, serving customers across on-premises, cloud, and edge environments. The company has positioned itself at the intersection of three major infrastructure trends: hybrid multicloud deployment, artificial intelligence inference, and expanding cybersecurity threats. In June 2026, F5 launched its AI Security Platform, complemented by the acquisition of SurePath AI to bolster shadow AI detection capabilities. In September 2026, the company expanded the platform with F5 Workforce AI Security, addressing the reality that employees increasingly delegate work to AI agents that can access enterprise systems and data. F5's regional presence in the Middle East has grown materially in recent years; the company inaugurated infrastructure points of presence in Bahrain and the UAE to serve local and regional customers with improved latency and performance.

Al Tamimi's appointment suggests F5 sees the Gulf as a high-priority market where digital transformation and AI adoption are accelerating, particularly among large enterprises in financial services, energy, telecommunications, and government sectors. The region's cloud infrastructure investment and regulatory focus on data sovereignty create openings for vendors offering localized security and governance capabilities. By appointing a leader with established relationships and track record in the META region, F5 aims to deepen market penetration and expand its sales capacity precisely as customers face mounting complexity in securing AI-driven applications and protecting sensitive data across hybrid environments. The move appears designed to capture share in a market segment where traditional application security expertise increasingly intersects with emerging AI security demands.
