Corgi Insurance, the AI-native insurance carrier backed by prominent venture capital firms, has appointed Jeremy Eisemann as Head of Government Affairs and Associate General Counsel, the San Francisco-based firm announced on June 30, 2026. The appointment marks Corgi's continued strategic focus on regulatory expertise and legal leadership as the insurance technology sector navigates evolving rules around artificial intelligence and emerging coverage needs for tech-driven companies.
Eisemann arrives at Corgi following a tenure as Vice President of State Government Affairs and Assistant General Counsel at the Reinsurance Association of America (RAA), where he managed legislative and regulatory engagement on behalf of the global reinsurance industry. In that role, he worked with insurance commissioners, legislators, and regulators across the United States on matters including catastrophe risk, artificial intelligence, and data governance. Peter Skaliy, General Counsel of Corgi, stated that Eisemann's experience spanning reinsurance, insurance regulation, and legal strategy positioned him to support the company's expansion. No search firm involvement was mentioned in the announcement.
Eisemann brings nearly 15 years of insurance industry experience from his time at Liberty Mutual Insurance, where he held the position of Assistant Vice President, Senior Public Affairs Officer, and Senior Counsel. During his tenure, he advised business leaders on regulatory, public policy, privacy, and cybersecurity matters while developing legislative and regulatory strategies across multiple jurisdictions. Before his private sector roles, Eisemann served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General. He holds a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard University, a Master of Business Administration from Suffolk University, a Juris Doctor from New England School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University.
Corgi was founded in 2024 by Nico Laqua and Emily Yuan and received regulatory approval as a licensed insurance carrier in July 2025. The company operates as a full-stack carrier using artificial intelligence to power underwriting, claims processing, and policy administration entirely in-house, rather than relying on third-party administrators and managing general agents. Corgi has concentrated on serving startup and high-growth technology companies with modular coverage options including directors and officers liability, cyber insurance, and errors and omissions coverage. The firm has raised $378 million since its founding as of late June 2026, including a $106 million Series B1 round that valued it at $2.6 billion.
Eisemann's appointment reflects broader hiring at Corgi intended to deepen insurance expertise as the company expands beyond its initial startup-focused markets into trucking and payroll insurance. The appointment also suggests that Corgi views regulatory relationships as increasingly material to its growth strategy, particularly as artificial intelligence adoption in underwriting and claims faces heightened scrutiny from state insurance regulators. Eisemann's background spanning both industry lobbying and state-level regulatory navigation positions him to help navigate the complex, fragmented regulatory environment across multiple state insurance departments, a typical challenge for carriers seeking to underwrite across jurisdictions.
