Centuria Capital Group has confirmed that Jason Huljich will become the ASX listed property and funds management group's sole group chief executive officer from 27 November 2026, ending the company's joint chief executive structure. The move was announced on 28 August 2026.
Centuria said the shift to a single chief executive is consistent with the board's long term strategy to ensure a seamless leadership transition as the group moves into its next phase of growth. Huljich has served as joint chief executive alongside co-founder John McBain, who is stepping down from the joint role on the same date. McBain will remain involved with the group in a non-executive capacity, taking up director positions across several of its boards, including Centuria Capital, Centuria Life, Centuria Bass Credit and Asset Plus.
Three decades building the platform
Huljich and McBain co-founded Centuria together and have led the group since April 2008. McBain moved to Australia in 1990 and was a pioneer in real estate securitisation through Century Funds Management, the business from which Centuria grew. Under their joint leadership, Centuria expanded from a small team with a handful of investors into a 22 billion dollar ASX listed group spanning real estate and funds management.
Centuria chair Kristie Brown said Huljich's appointment to sole leadership carried the full confidence of the board. She said he had spent more than thirty years building Centuria's funds management platform alongside McBain and brought deep knowledge of every part of the business, strong relationships across the market and a clear vision for its next stage of growth.
Huljich said he was honoured by the board's confidence and was looking forward to leading the team as Centuria builds on the platform he and McBain had grown together. He thanked McBain for his partnership over more than three decades and said he was glad the pair would continue working together as McBain moves into his new non-executive role.
An orderly handover
McBain described the move as the right moment for the company and for him personally, saying it had been a privilege to build Centuria alongside Huljich from a small team into the business it is today. He said he was looking forward to staying involved in a non-executive capacity while also spending more time on his private interests and his family.
Brown said the board wished to acknowledge McBain's contribution as a business founder, describing what he and Huljich had built together as a rare achievement worthy of real celebration. She said the board was pleased McBain had chosen to stay on as a non-executive director, calling the continuity a significant asset as Centuria moves into its next chapter.
Centuria Capital Group operates as a diversified property and funds management business listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. The transition to a sole chief executive model takes effect from 27 November 2026, with Huljich assuming full responsibility for the group's operations and strategy from that date.
