Abdulaziz Alamer has been appointed acting chief executive officer of RATIO Speciality Company for Trading, the Saudi Arabian coffee and food retailer announced on July 30. The appointment marks a leadership transition for the Tadawul-listed company, which operates the RATIO specialty coffee brand and fast-food outlets across the Kingdom. The timing and circumstances of the CEO change were not disclosed in the brief announcement.
RATIO's board moved to appoint Alamer to the top post as the company navigates competitive pressures in Saudi Arabia's rapidly evolving food and beverage sector. The company, founded in 2014 in Al-Ahsa by what founders describe as passionate Saudi youth, started as a mini sandwich restaurant before launching RATIO Specialty Coffee in 2018. No search firm involvement in the appointment process was disclosed. The board has not yet issued detailed statements regarding the leadership transition or plans for a permanent chief executive.
Alamer brings over fifteen years of experience in project management, product development, and digital transformation initiatives. At THIQAH Business Services, a Riyadh-based consulting firm, he served as Executive Director of product delivery, where he progressed through roles including Portfolio Manager, Program Manager, and Senior Manager. He previously worked as a Project Manager at Hoshan Holding Group, where he contributed to strategic objective-setting and key performance indicator development using balanced scorecard methodologies. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering and is pursuing a Master's degree in Business Administration at King Saud University. Alamer completed executive education at INSEAD's Saudi Digital Academy Digital Leadership Program in 2020.
RATIO operates as a public company on the Tadawul market and is primarily engaged in wholesale and retail trade of coffee, tea, food, beverages, and dairy products. The company runs multiple restaurant locations under the RATIO and Mornin brands with offices in Al Hofuf, Al-Ahsa. It listed on Tadawul's Parallel Market (NOMU) in March 2025. The company has approximately fifty to two hundred employees and generated revenues around SAR 23.8 million, according to available data.
Alamer's appointment to the acting CEO role may signal RATIO's intention to strengthen operational execution and digital transformation capabilities at a time when Saudi Arabia's quick-service and specialty coffee segments face increased competition and evolving consumer preferences. The appointment of an executive with product delivery and transformation expertise suggests the board may be prioritizing operational efficiency and innovation. The acting designation indicates the board likely intends to conduct a broader search for a permanent chief executive, though the timeline for that process remains unclear.
