Ernesto Torres Cantú

Ernesto Torres Cantú was appointed Citi's Head of International in September 2023 and is a member of Citi's Executive Management Team. Torres Cantú is responsible for delivering Citi's offerings to clients outside North America, where he works in close partnership with all products and functions to be the preeminent bank for clients with cross-border needs and a global leader in wealth management. His role includes direct accountability for delivering industry leading risk and controls and providing comprehensive oversight of all legal entities across Citi's International markets.

Born and trained as an industrial engineer in Monterrey, Mexico, Torres Cantú began his working life in manufacturing, not finance. Seeking a role that combined structure with human engagement, Torres Cantú made the move into financial services, joining Citi as a corporate banker. Born in Torreón, Coahuila state, he holds a degree in industrial engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey and an MBA from Georgia State University.
