The World Innovation Summit for Health returns to the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha on 29 and 30 November for its eighth edition, bringing health ministers, hospital and insurer executives, researchers and investors together under the theme of healthy longevity.
WISH is an initiative of Qatar Foundation and describes its purpose as connecting global leaders to address policy, innovation and philanthropy across major health challenges. The 2026 programme, branded The New Health Span, is organised around five tracks, among them the Longevity Dividend, Financing the Cure, and AI and Human Centred Health.
The framing matters commercially as much as clinically. A healthy longevity agenda shifts the question from how long people live to how many of those years are spent in good health, and that reframing moves spending decisions upstream into prevention, diagnostics, chronic disease management and the financing structures that pay for them. For insurers, hospital groups, pharmaceutical companies and the sovereign funds backing health infrastructure across the Gulf, those are capital allocation questions rather than policy abstractions.
The Financing the Cure track points at one of the harder problems in the sector, which is how health systems pay for one-off curative therapies whose cost lands in a single year while the benefit accrues over decades. The AI and Human Centred Health track addresses the other live question, which is where clinical judgement ends and algorithmic decision support begins, and who carries liability when the two disagree.
Qatar has used the summit as a standing platform for its health diplomacy since the series began, and the Qatar National Convention Centre has hosted most editions. The event sits in a crowded Gulf calendar of health and life sciences gatherings, and its distinguishing feature has been the research reports commissioned for each edition, which are published alongside the programme rather than presented as conference proceedings.
For chief executives and strategy heads at insurers, providers, medical technology manufacturers and life sciences investors with Gulf exposure, the summit is one of the few regional settings where health ministry decision makers and private operators are in the same room. Registration and programme detail are published on the summit's official site.
