Kuwait International Fair Company

Company Overview

The Kuwait International Fair Company operates the Kuwait International Fair ground at Mishref, the country's principal exhibition venue, and organises a substantial part of the programme staged there. The site carries numbered halls that are let singly or in combination, and the operator schedules the calendar across them, running commercial exhibitions, trade shows and public fairs through the year.

The company's own published schedule shows how tightly the ground is worked. In December it runs a winter fashion exhibition in hall four in the first half of the month, a separate exhibition across halls five, six and seven, and then the twenty sixth Gold and Jewellery Exhibition in those same three halls from the seventeenth to the twenty second, a turnaround between the two shows that the operator has scheduled deliberately.

The gold and jewellery show is the clearest example of how the company serves a specific domestic trade. Kuwait's jewellery business is concentrated in the Mubarakiya souk in the old quarter of the capital, and the fairground exhibition is the occasion on which that trade presents itself at scale under one roof. The operator ran a twenty fifth edition earlier in the same year, which gives the trade two appointments inside twelve months rather than the single annual fixture most Gulf markets offer.
