Global Energy Show Canada runs in Calgary from the eighth to the tenth of June. The year is 2027. The event is held at the BMO Centre at Stampede Park, with show hours from ten in the morning to five in the afternoon, Tuesday to Thursday. The organiser is dmg events.

What the event is

Billed by its organiser as Canada's national energy event, the show combines an executive conference with a large trade exhibition. The executive conference puts senior leaders from government, industry and capital markets on energy security, affordability, competitiveness, decarbonisation and market access, while a parallel conference carries the technical and project delivery material across oil and gas, new energy, artificial intelligence, data centres and project execution.

The exhibition spans conventional energy, gas and liquefied natural gas, power, renewables, hydrogen, nuclear, carbon management and digital solutions. Executive leadership roundtables, an awards programme and a members club provide the closed door and networking layer. The organiser cites more than 30,000 energy professionals and hundreds of exhibitors, without stating which edition those figures describe.

Why it matters to a board

Calgary is where Canadian energy policy meets Canadian energy capital, and the two have rarely been further apart on questions of market access and emissions policy than they are now. An event that seats government, operators and financiers at the same roundtables is therefore a reasonable place to read how far that gap has actually narrowed, which is a question with direct consequences for project sanctioning decisions.

The addition of artificial intelligence and data centres to the programme is also worth noting, because power demand from compute is moving from a technology question to a generation planning question for utilities and their boards.
