Tareq Muhmood

Tareq Muhmood was appointed Regional President for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA) at Visa in June 2025. In his role, he leads operations across more than 86 fast-growing markets, with Visa's CEMEA operations serving more than 1,800 clients from 23 local offices across the region. Based in Dubai, Muhmood reports to Oliver Jenkyn, Group President of Global Markets at Visa.

Muhmood brings more than 30 years of banking and payments experience to the role. He originally joined Visa in 2019 as Group Country Manager for Southeast Asia, based in Singapore, and most recently served as head of Value-Added Services for Visa's Europe region, based in London. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Business Administration and Management from Singapore Management University (2021-2026). Prior to joining Visa, Muhmood spent 17 years with HSBC in a wide range of management roles and functions, most recently as CEO Brunei where he was responsible for institutional, commercial, private bank and retail customers. He also held senior leadership roles at ANZ, serving as Managing Director Global Diversified Industries and CEO of ANZ's Vietnam operations. Prior to these organizations, Muhmood held senior leadership positions with Ahli United Bank.

During his career, Muhmood has worked in 13 countries, bringing a unique global perspective and proven track record partnering with Visa's largest clients across diverse, complex and rapidly accelerating markets. He has spent more than a third of his career in the CEMEA region, giving him a nuanced understanding of its digital payment needs and commercial evolution.
