Deirdre Veldon

Deirdre Veldon stepped down as Group Managing Director of The Irish Times Group in September 2025 after nearly three years leading the organization's business and editorial strategy. She was appointed to the role in November 2022, replacing Paul Mulvaney. During her tenure, Veldon oversaw the group's return to profitability and significant growth in digital subscriptions, a major digital transformation programme, the acquisitions of death notice website RIP.ie and the Gloss magazine, and the sale of radio assets.

Veldon holds a Master's degree in International Relations from Dublin City University, a Higher Diploma in Applied Communications from University of Galway, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and French from University of Galway. She spent 30 years with the media group in a variety of senior editorial digital and print roles, establishing her as a leader in digital-first journalism transformation.
