Hub Group has appointed David Yeager as chairman and chief executive officer, effective 14 September 2026, returning a longtime leader to the top of the logistics company amid a period of financial and governance strain. Yeager, who led Hub Group as chief executive for more than two decades before moving to an executive chairman role, resumes day-to-day command of the business.
Under the same leadership changes, Phillip Yeager, who had been serving as chief executive, continues as president and vice chairman. The reshuffle keeps both executives at the centre of the company while shifting the ultimate operating authority back to David Yeager, and it is framed as a move to steady the business through a difficult stretch.
The company also named Patrick O'Donnell as chief financial officer-elect. O'Donnell, formerly executive vice president and chief financial officer of TreeHouse Foods, is expected to take up the finance role after Hub Group files its annual report for the 2025 fiscal year, with Todd Heeter continuing as interim chief financial officer until then.
The leadership changes come against a demanding backdrop. Hub Group has been working through a financial restatement and delayed periodic filings, and on 17 September 2026 the company disclosed that it had received a Nasdaq staff delisting determination tied to the late filings. That context makes the return of an experienced hand at the top, alongside a designated incoming finance chief, a signal of the board intent to restore stability and confidence.
David Yeager, the son of Hub Group founder Phillip C. Yeager, joined the company in 1975 and led it as chief executive for roughly twenty-six years before becoming chairman in 2008. His long institutional memory and familiarity with the business are central to the rationale for his return. He holds a master of business administration from the University of Chicago and a bachelor degree from the University of Dayton.
The changes also underline how closely leadership and financial credibility are linked when a public company faces a listing challenge. Restoring timely reporting, rebuilding investor confidence and steadying the management team are interdependent tasks, and the board has chosen to address them by combining a return to experienced leadership at the top with a clear succession plan for the finance function. For customers, partners and employees, the immediate message is one of continuity.
Hub Group is a transportation and logistics company that manages intermodal, trucking and supply-chain services across North America. For David Yeager, the near-term priorities are clear, spanning the completion of the restatement, the resolution of the filing and listing issues, and the orderly handover of the finance function to its incoming leader.
