Kris Hinson, Crown Castle Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Crown Castle Inc. has named Kris Hinson as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, a move that places a longtime insider in charge of the company's financial leadership. The appointment takes effect on April 1, 2027. Crown Castle disclosed the change on September 14, 2026, through a current report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and a release distributed via GlobeNewswire.

Hinson currently serves as Crown Castle's Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. The board intends to appoint him to the finance role as part of a planned and orderly leadership transition. Sunit Patel, the company's current Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, has elected to retire, with his departure set for March 31, 2027, following the filing of the company's 2026 annual report. Hinson steps into the role the next day, allowing the two executives several months to work together on the handover.

"Kris has tremendous financial expertise, leadership skills and a deep knowledge of our business, having led both investor- and customer-facing teams at Crown Castle," said Chris Hillabrant, Crown Castle's President and Chief Executive Officer.

Hinson, 43, has held the Chief Commercial Officer position since 2026, where he manages customer commercial relationships and commercial strategy. From 2023 to 2026 he served as Vice President of Corporate Finance and Treasurer, with responsibilities that spanned investor relations, strategic planning, treasury, procurement, business analytics, sustainability and corporate facilities. That combination of investor-facing and customer-facing experience was cited by management as a central reason for the selection.

Before joining Crown Castle, Hinson spent 13 years at ExxonMobil in a variety of finance leadership roles, most recently as Director of Investor Relations and earlier as Managing Director of ExxonMobil Czech Republic. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and an AB in Economics from Harvard College.

Crown Castle, listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker CCI, owns, operates and leases approximately 40,000 cell towers across the United States. The company is structured as a real estate investment trust and provides the tower infrastructure that wireless carriers rely on to deliver mobile connectivity nationwide. Over the past year it has repositioned itself as a pure-play US tower business, completing the sale of its fiber and small cell operations to focus on its core telecom infrastructure.

The CFO change is one of several leadership moves the company announced on the same day. Cathy Piche, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, will step down from the operating role on September 23, 2026, and remain available as a special advisor until her departure on February 22, 2027. Crown Castle said it has begun a search for a new operating chief. Patel will continue in the CFO role through his separation date to support the transition.

Elevating an internal candidate who has led both finance and commercial functions points to continuity in Crown Castle's financial strategy as it settles into its narrower identity as a US tower operator. Hinson was previously the company's primary contact for investors, and his move into the top finance seat gives Crown Castle a chief financial officer already familiar with the priorities of shareholders and customers alike as it manages the next phase of its infrastructure business.
