Porter began his career as an apprentice coach builder with Yeates in 1987, which was subsequently acquired by Volvo. He spent over 30 years at Volvo, progressing through customer service and sales roles before ultimately leading the manufacturer's UK and Ireland coach sales operations. He subsequently held senior positions with Van Hool and, most recently, Wrightbus, where he gained extensive experience with premium coaches, zero-emission technologies and new product introductions into mature markets.
