Enda O’Coineen

Enda O'Coineen (born 15 October 1955 in Galway) is an Irish businessman, sailor, navigator and skipper. O'Coineen is a former Irish Times journalist, author and magazine publisher. In 2018, O'Coineen, together with Colm O'Reilly, formed the Business Post Group after acquiring The Sunday Business Post from Sunrise Media, and has since grown it into a diversified media and professional services enterprise. Since Kilcullen Kapital acquired the former Post Publications Ltd in 2018, the group has grown from annual revenues of €7.5 million into a profitable business generating approximately €40 million in annual revenue.

Enda O'Coineen remains a significant minority shareholder in the Business Post Group following Swedish media group Bonnier News's increased investment in 2026. O'Coineen is a graduate of the National University of Ireland, Galway in management and finance, and has worked extensively in the US and in Central and Eastern Europe. He founded AFLOAT Magazine, Security World Magazine and Aquabroker Insurance in Ireland before moving to Prague and founding the Czech & Slovak Credit Bureaus and a mortgage business called SIMPLY.

The Business Post Group portfolio now includes iconic brands with operations in journalism, digital products, research, events, and professional learning. More recently (2025) the Group acquired the Irish Management Institute from University College Cork, along with its 13 acre campus in South Dublin. Beyond media, O'Coineen has led major brownfield investments in manufacturing through Kilcullen Kapital Partners, including the acquisition of ZPA and its transformation into a Smart Metering manufacturing business, and was a founding partner in Enercap, a renewable energy fund which has successfully raised and invested €100m in renewable energy projects in Central and Eastern Europe.

Recognition and Philanthropy

In 2013, he helped found the Atlantic Youth Trust, a young sailing charity in Ireland, and serves as its chair. Being a founding partner and chairman of the Volvo Ocean Race project in Galway on a voluntary basis, which generated over €100m direct benefit to the local economy. He is also founder and President of the Irish Pubs Global Federation. In 2019, he published a memoir entitled Close To The Edge. He was the first Irish sailor to compete in the Vendée Globe solo around-the-world race in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018.
