Peter Flavel

Peter Flavel has been appointed Chair and independent non-executive director of the board of Schroder & Co. (Asia), where he works alongside Evonne Tan, who recently took over as CEO for Asia, to strengthen the firm's regional business and support its long-term growth strategy. Flavel brings more than three decades of private banking and wealth management experience.

Flavel completed a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Adelaide and then a Bachelor of Economics and Commerce, which he commenced at Adelaide and then completed at the University of Melbourne. Later studies have taken Peter to the Harvard Business School, to Oxford University and to the Singularity University in Silicon Valley where he undertook an Executive Program. After working for a few years as a Commercial Litigation Solicitor and Barrister, Peter moved into the finance sector, initially as a Management Consultant and then in investment management, following which he entered the banking sector in the mid 1990s.

Under his Coutts leadership, the bank embraced a modern identity, launching platforms like Coutts 24, enhancing mobile services, and creating digital tools for clients, while forming a 700-member "Coutts Council" to inform service decisions. He also championed environmental and social responsibility, with Coutts becoming the first UK private bank to earn B Corporation certification, signaling a commitment to transparency, governance, and sustainability. Flavel is also a director at India-based Waterfield Advisors, a multi-family office.
