SAL Saudi Logistics Services Company has appointed Fawaz Mohammed Al Fawwaz as Chairman and Mohammad Abdullah Abunayyan as Vice Chairman for four-year terms ending March 29, 2030. The appointments were announced on April 5, 2026, following the company's Ordinary General Assembly meeting, marking key leadership transitions at the Kingdom's national logistics champion.

The board also established the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Executive Committee, with Abunayyan chairing the latter. SAL said the appointments reflect strong confidence in the company's strategic direction and positioning to strengthen its role in the logistics sector. No search firm involvement was disclosed in the announcements. The moves signal continuity at the Tadawul-listed company, as both executives previously held positions at SAL.

Al Fawwaz brings over 40 years of experience in finance, accounting, and corporate governance. Currently serving as Chief Executive Officer of National Industrialization Company (Tasnee) since April 2024, he previously spent nearly a decade as Global Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President at the same firm. His background includes senior finance roles at Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), where he served as Vice President of Finance from 2010 to 2015 and General Manager-Finance from 2004 to 2009. Al Fawwaz holds an undergraduate degree from King Saud University, earned in 1983. His board portfolio spans chemicals, titanium dioxide production, energy services, and petrochemicals, with experience in overseas roles including non-independent directorships at Tronox Holdings Plc.

SAL, established in 2019 after carving out operations from Saudia Cargo, operates across 18 Saudi airports with primary hubs in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Medina. The company provides air cargo ground handling, integrated logistics solutions, customs clearance, warehouse management, and bonded storage services. With over 900 employees and annual cargo throughput exceeding 800,000 tonnes, SAL positions itself as the Kingdom's national logistics champion supporting Vision 2030 economic transformation goals. The company listed on the Tadawul in 2023 and has pursued strategic expansion including partnerships with logistics parks and international cargo hubs.

Abunayyan's appointment pairs logistics expertise with substantial capital and energy sector influence. As founder and chairman of ACWA Power, a publicly listed clean energy, water desalination, and green hydrogen company established in 2004, he brings over 40 years of business leadership. Vision Invest, his holding company, owns stakes across wastewater treatment, logistics, and industrial sectors. His extensive board roles spanning investment vehicles, cargo operations, and public-private infrastructure projects suggest the appointment reflects confidence in SAL's ability to capitalize on regional trade flows and e-commerce growth. Both executives carry significant networks within Saudi's economic establishment, positioning the company to navigate regulatory and partnership dynamics as it pursues ambitious capital investment plans exceeding five billion riyals for logistics infrastructure development.
