Momin Jaffar has joined Standard Chartered as Managing Director & Group Head - Global Private Bank based in Dubai. He joins from HSBC, where he was the UAE-based Head of Private Banking.

Standard Chartered Global Private Banking is expanding its frontliners by 20% in the UAE, taking the total to eight new recruits in 2024.

The bank said the UAE plays a pivotal role in growing its affluent business as it acts as a gateway to international markets and hubs. The expansion is part of a broader strategy to double its investment in the affluent business over the next five years, according to the bank.

‘Expanding our private banking team in the UAE reflects our confidence in the country’s unique role as a global wealth hub,’ said Vinay Gandhi (pictured), Standard Chartered Global Private Bank’s global head of GSAC and regional head of AMEE.

‘The UAE continues to be a priority market for Standard Chartered, with the bank actively investing in talent and resources to meet the needs of its high and ultra-high-net-worth clients.’

The hires come after the bank set an ambitious target of attracting $200bn in net new money and double-digit growth in its wealth solutions over the next five years, with a focus on global Chinese and Indians stationed in Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE and Jersey.
