Divisions and business units
Santander is organised around five global businesses: Retail and Commercial Banking; Openbank, the digital consumer bank formerly known as the Digital Consumer Bank; Corporate and Investment Banking; Wealth Management and Insurance; and Payments. From 1 January 2026 the cards business moved into Retail and Commercial Banking, and Wealth Management and Insurance was reorganised into two lines, Private Banking and Insurance and Asset Management Solutions. Santander Corporate and Investment Banking, known as Santander CIB, is the wholesale division serving corporates, financial institutions and financial sponsors, led globally by Jose Maria Linares. Wealth Management and Insurance brings together Santander Private Banking, Santander Asset Management and Santander Insurance. Payments is delivered through PagoNxt, created in 2020 to consolidate the payments assets of the group alongside the Getnet franchise.
