John Mumm

John Mumm, Ph.D., was appointed Chief Scientific Officer of ChronicleBio on June 11, 2026. Mumm is a three-decade immunology innovator, serial founder, and author of more than 30 peer-reviewed publications who carries multiple patents. He brings an unmatched track record at the intersection of cytokine biology, immunology, and precision medicine.

Education and Early Career: Mumm earned his Bachelor's degree from Menlo College, received an MS from Stanford University, and obtained both an MS and Ph.D. from MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he made his first discovery that IL-10 directly activates anti-tumor CD8+ T cells. He completed post-doctoral work at DNAX Research Institute and became a Scientist at Schering Plough where he developed PEGylated IL-10 (AM0010) as an immunoncology asset.
