Shameek Kundu

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) has appointed Shameek Kundu as Chief AI Officer to lead the bank's AI and data agenda. Bringing over 25 years of experience to his new role, Kundu will be responsible for the bank's various AI endeavours, including Meedaf, a financial services venture which launched in April 2025 to provide specialised AI-driven and blockchain-enabled solutions to financial institutions across the GCC region.

Kundu brings extensive global experience in data, analytics, and technology leadership, most recently serving as Executive Director of AI Verify at the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in Singapore. In that role, he led the creation of an AI testing ecosystem through the AI Verify Foundation, focusing on real-world validation of AI systems. He described this position on LinkedIn as the "most meaningful stint of my career so far".

Kundu studied Communications Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Warangal (1993–1997) and earned an MBA in Finance from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (1997–1999).

Beyond his day job, he serves on the Singapore government's AI and Data ethics advisory council, co-chairs the data governance working group at the Global Partnership on AI, and was one of the authors of the MAS' FEAT guidelines on Responsible AI. He is closely involved in regulatory initiatives around AI governance.
