Sanjiv Aggarwal

Sanjiv Aggarwal brings over 35 years of expertise in infrastructure and energy sectors, with a proven track record in building sustainable investment platforms across Asia. He holds a B.Tech (Hons) in Mining Engineering and a distinguished alumnus award from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, complemented by an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur. His appointment as Managing Director and CEO of National Investment and Infrastructure Fund Limited took effect in February 2024.

Prior to joining NIIF, Aggarwal spent seven years at Citigroup, where he became Head of Power, Energy, Chemicals, Mining & Transportation for India, followed by nine years at ANZ Investment Bank, where he headed the project financing team for urban infrastructure and oil & gas. He joined Actis, a leading global investor in sustainable infrastructure, in 2008 and became a partner in 2010.

What Aggarwal could bring to NIIF: With his extensive background scaling infrastructure investments across India and Asia—including his role in establishing Actis as a major player in Indian renewables—Aggarwal is well-positioned to deepen NIIF's capital mobilization efforts and expand the sovereign fund's sectoral reach. His tenure at Actis included the sale of the renewable energy platform Sprng Energy to Shell for an enterprise value of $1.55 billion in April 2022, demonstrating capacity to identify, develop, and execute high-value exits—critical for a fund managing India's growth capital needs.
