Professor Michael Bronstein

Michael Bronstein is the DeepMind Professor of AI at the University of Oxford and Founding Scientific Director of AI at the Aithyra Institute in Vienna. Born in 1980, he is a British-Israeli computer scientist and entrepreneur who received his PhD from the Technion in 2007 after studying at the intersection of geometry and machine learning. He completed both his undergraduate and PhD degrees in computer science at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, under the guidance of renowned scientist Ron Kimmel.

Bronstein is mainly known for his pioneering research on geometric deep learning, a field in which he coined the term "geometric deep learning," generalizing neural networks to non-Euclidean data. His research encompasses a spectrum of applications ranging from machine learning, computer vision, and pattern recognition to geometry processing, computer graphics, and imaging. At Oxford, he develops geometric deep learning and generative models for molecular modeling and design.
