Pam Kaur

Pam Kaur was appointed HSBC's Group Chief Financial Officer on 1 January 2025, making her the first woman to hold the position since HSBC's founding 160 years ago. Based in Chandigarh, India, Kaur studied at Carmel Convent School and earned a BCom (Hons) and MBA in Finance from Panjab University. She holds a Fellowship with The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Kaur brings almost 40 years of global banking experience across audit, business, compliance, finance and risk management. Before joining HSBC in April 2013, she held compliance and audit roles at Citigroup Inc. and Deutsche Bank AG. Her earlier senior positions included Global Head of Group Audit for Deutsche Bank; CFO and COO of the Restructuring and Risk Division for Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc; and Chief Compliance Officer at Citigroup International. After joining HSBC as Group Head of Internal Audit in April 2013, she served as Group Chief Risk Officer from January 2020 and assumed responsibility for Compliance in June 2021, continuing as Group Chief Risk and Compliance Officer until December 2024.

Kaur has led teams across more than 100 countries and worked in the UK and US for British, American and German banks. Key career milestones include moving from the US to the UK in 2005 for better work-life balance and navigating the 2008 global financial crisis, which strengthened her resilience with regulators and stakeholders. She has served on HSBC's Group Executive Committee for more than a decade and was named Head of Wholesale Market and Credit Risk in 2019.
